Following BOUND, book 1, the story continues with Michael Vincent, a minor character at the start, who has spent the last year on the run, convinced he deserves to be alone and tormented by his guilt. His unwitting but devastating actions in book 1 continue to haunt him as he tries to build a new life deep in the Rochfort Mountains, away from his pack. Fate has different plans when he meets his mate, giving Michael a small glimmer of hope for redemption. But as the nightmare and evil of his former life threatens to destroy all hope, can he overcome his guilt, make peace with his pack and rid the evil for good this time?

As with the first in the series, Released is not just wolf fiction, a trope that I don’t usually enjoy. Friendship, love and loyalty feature strongly here, all woven into a suspense thriller that feels far more real than an urban fantasy. The author has a natural gift of pulling you into the story, convincing you that wolves live amongst us in our everyday lives.

I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Elyse Osterhaug, who I am delighted to say has recorded the whole series. Elyse has a beautiful, easy tone that keeps you listening, bringing compelling depth to her storytelling… wonderful.

The Turning Moon series is a must-read and listen for all lovers of urban fantasy, thrilling suspense, and of course, a fabulous wolf romance. If you are new to audiobooks, these are great places to start. Now on to book 3!

Platform House – The home of writer services

Some of your will know that recently my incredible husband and myself branched out, starting our own little business, with a thought to helping fellow independent authors. Thus, Platform House was born. We made a conscious choice not to push like mad, but take it slowly and let business set its own pace. We have a small family; and I need time to write as well, after all! So, letting work come in via recommendations and important word of mouth, we’ve actually been really busy – amazingly so.

Here’s the links to Platform House Website, Instagram, Facebook

A few weeks ago, we had a request to create a book trailer, something quite epic to fit the equally epic fantasy book in question. We jumped at the chance, well my husband did, as that’s what he loves! And after spending hours and hours perfecting, researching, studying, the result was wonderful. With a very happy client indeed, which is all we ever want after all.

Our aim on settling up Platform House was not one for major income and profits but to give back, lend a helping hand to fellow writers, seasons ones and those new to the industry of self-publishing. The first steps to becoming an Independent Author are the hardest, it can be like fumbling around in the dark trying to find the door, being difficult and a sometimes frustrating process, both writing and producing a book, along with the marketing side of independent publishing. This is where we like to come in, opening the door, shedding some light on your writing future.

So, back to this epic trailer – This week we have added BOOK TEASERS AND TRAILERS to our website. We like to cater for all needs and budgets, from a 30 second teaser perfect for a new release or pre-order to a fully bespoke epic cinematic trailer – and everything in between.

1646 – A time of English Civil War, when life is cheap, death common and superstition consumes the hearts of God-fearing folk. The life of a healer is precarious, dwelling in the shadows of normal society. Ostracised, their time running out as the self-appointed Witchfinder General scours the countryside for the Devil’s whores…

2016 – One dark night, one sleepy town, one family gripped by terror. The EAPI paranormal team are called to investigate dark poltergeist activity. But, as the eternal night finally loosens its grip, it seems that some evil deeds are never forgotten, reaching out from beyond the grave to exact their revenge…

Lies, secrets, and treachery, it seems, are never forgotten

Welcome to Manningtree…

England 1645

Civil War clutches the country in a merciless embrace. It has been raging, trudging its heavy boots, sweeping the weary country with fear and battle, for nigh on three years. The hearts of men, divided, The Royalists of King Charles I, and Cromwell’s Parliamentarians. Steadfast in their intentions, to retain or gain power, each loyal to their cause, but, in fear and severe hatred of those with other, contentious, ideals.

Yet, in the souls of the lowly countrymen, the humble farmer, the timid maiden, from clerk to clergy, another war rages, fuelled by ignorance. Superstition. It rules with a fierce rod. God-fearing folk seek refuge in pure beliefs, and be damned any who step outside the boundary.

Parliament propaganda whispers in men’s ears – There be evil. Slowly, gradually, gaining momentum ‘til it spreads like wildfire. Weed out the Crown’s servants of Satan. Reap the country bare of its demons. Beelzebub lurks, preying on the weak and needy. Innocent hearts to contaminate, milk to sour, butter to spoil, crops to rot.

However, there is a man. One who wheedles his employment of local parish, town, village and hamlet. One who is trusted, esteemed and feared. He comes, with those in his employ, to watch, gathering evidence and confession. His success speaks of a countryside rife with evil, an intemperate plague of witches, the Devil’s Whores.

Happy Release day – ‘The Forest’ by Julia Blake

Today sees the release of the much-anticipated new fantasy novel from Julia Blake. ‘The Forest – a tale of old magic’, is available in gorgeous paperback and download from Amazon. Congratulations, Julia x

The Forest“I met a man made of leaves, with roots for hair, who looked at me with eyes that burnt like fire.”

An impenetrable forest that denies entry to all but a select few. A strange and isolated village, whose residents never leave. A curse that reappears every generation, leaving death and despair in its wake.

What is lurking at the heart of the Forest? When the White Hind of legend is seen, the villagers know three of its young people will be left dead, victims of a triangle of love, murder and suicide.

This time, Sally, Jack and Reuben have been selected, and it’s their turn to be tormented by long-buried jealousies, aroused by the dark entity existing within its shadowy glades. Only by confronting the Forest’s secrets, can they hope to break the curse and change their destinies – if they have the courage.

Keeper of secrets. Taker of souls. Defender of innocence. Existing on the very edge of believing, there is the Forest. And this is its story…

All Julia’s books are available from Amazon.

Julia Blake Profile photoI was born and raised in the lovely historic market town of Bury St Edmunds, where I live still with my daughter. I’m typical Cancer, in that although I like to visit new places and see new things, I’m always very pleased to get home again.

I’ve been writing ever since I was old enough to pick up a pen, writing plays for my friends to act out at break time. I attempted my first novel at age thirteen. Of course, due to my age and lack of experience, it was complete rubbish, although I have to say the plot wasn’t half bad, maybe one day I’ll dust it off and attempt a re-write.

I didn’t seriously write until my late thirties, when the stories in my head suddenly began demanding release and I started to write furiously. Over the next ten years, I wrote six complete novels, one 17,000 word novella, half a dozen or so short stories and many poems.

Finally, in 2014 I decided to do something with all these words and, a few months later, after considerable proofing and re-writing, The Book of Eve was published.
