Here are answers to some of the questions I’m asked most often. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, I’d be delighted to help. Just get in touch.
Do I need to know about formatting before I contact you?
Not at all. Many of my clients are publishing for the first time. If you’re unsure which option is right for your book, just get in touch and I’ll happily guide you through the process.
What do I need to send?
Simply send me your completed manuscript as a Microsoft Word document (.doc or .docx). If you’ve already commissioned cover artwork or have images you’d like included, you can send those too.
What if I’m not sure which service I need?
That’s absolutely fine. Select Request a Personalised Quote or General Enquiry on the contact form and tell me a little about your book. I’ll recommend the option that’s best suited to your project.
Does formatting include an eBook?
Yes. Every formatting project includes professionally formatted paperback and eBook editions as standard.
Do you offer hardback formatting?
Yes. Yes. I can also prepare hardback editions where required. Every project is tailored to your publishing plans.
How long does formatting take?
Most projects are completed within two to three weeks, depending on the length and complexity of your manuscript and my current workload. If you’re working towards a publication date, let me know and I’ll always do my best to accommodate your schedule.
Will I be able to make changes afterwards?
Yes. You’ll receive an editable Microsoft Word version of your formatted manuscript. Minor updates are easy to make, but changes to the manuscript can affect the formatting, pagination and eBook layout. For that reason, I recommend returning your updated manuscript to me for a final check and fresh publication-ready files.
Can I request something that’s not listed?
Of course. Every book is different. If your project falls outside the standard services, I’ll be happy to provide a personalised quotation.
One round of minor amendments is included. Larger revisions or updates following author edits may incur an additional charge or be quoted as part of my Book Update Service.
Do I need a finished manuscript?
Yes. Formatting is the final stage before publication, so it’s best to wait until editing and proofreading are complete before sending your manuscript.
Who owns the files?
You do. Once your project is complete, you’ll receive your publication-ready files along with an editable Microsoft Word version of your formatted manuscript. You retain full ownership of your work and are free to publish wherever you choose.
