A journal of forgotten places, local folklore and the quiet moments that inspire my stories.
Sometimes it’s the heavy oak door of an ancient church. Sometimes it’s the worn stone steps leading to a forgotten ruin. Sometimes it’s a quiet Suffolk lane, an old inn, a weathered milestone or a sentinel oak standing alone in the middle of a field. More often than not, it’s simply a question.
Who was this person? Why here? What happened?
For years I’ve wandered churchyards, explored hidden corners of Suffolk, lingered in rural towns and paused where the past still seems to breathe beneath the surface. Most people see old buildings, ancient stones or peaceful countryside. I see fragments of lives, echoes of forgotten times and tiny details quietly waiting for someone to ask the next question.
As a gothic writer, these places have always shaped my imagination. My novels grow from history, folklore and atmosphere, often inspired by somewhere real. A ruined wall. A lonely woodland path. A local tale passed down through generations. An old photograph. A name carved into stone.

Most people see old stones. I see stories waiting to be remembered.

But not every discovery becomes a novel. Some deserve to be shared exactly as they are.
You might wonder why I’ve called it Churchyard Chronicles.
Churchyards have always been where so many of my stories begin. They’re places where the past, folklore and imagination quietly meet, and spark the simplest of questions…
What if?
But these Chronicles won’t stop at the church gate.
They’ll wander wherever an old path, a quiet village, or a local legend is waiting to be rediscovered. Together we’ll explore historic towns, hidden corners of Suffolk and beyond, remarkable architecture, enduring folklore and the landscapes that continue to inspire my writing.
Some Chronicles may uncover a piece of local history. Others might follow an old superstition, revive a forgotten tradition or simply linger somewhere that refuses to leave my imagination.
I’m not setting out to solve every mystery. Some are better left unanswered.
So, if you enjoy history, folklore, hidden corners and places where the past still lingers, I hope you’ll come wandering with me.
You never know what we’ll discover next.
Welcome to Churchyard Chronicles. Every story begins with an open door.

Thank you for wandering with me.
This is only the beginning. There are many more quiet corners, ancient paths and untold stories waiting to be discovered, and I hope you’ll return to explore them with me.
Until next time… keep looking beyond the stones.
